Kurt Wenner’s interest in Renaissance classicism began with the simple desire to draw well. His goal led him to Rome to study the great works created within the language of Western European Classicism. It soon became an ongoing mission for him to rediscover ideas and concepts from earlier centuries, transform them, and communicate them to a modern audience. To this end, he creates works with both contemporary and classical themes. All of Wenner’s projects from villas, to murals, to art for public events, start with a drawing. The drawings are the first vision of a future work and serve to communicate the image to the client. Wenner does not provide rough sketches, but moves forward from an idea or verbal description of a project to a finished conceptual drawing. The client reviews the work and, if needed, the drawing is adjusted.
